Sarwar was killed after a free fall from the fourth floor of a building during a RAB raid in Dhaka’s Ashulia last month.

His wife Musammat Shahnaz Akhtar Rumi was arrested at the spot. She was later charged for possession of weapons and involvement in terrorist activities.

28-year-old Rumi gave birth to a boy around 1 am on Sunday night, Prison Superintendent Subhash Ghosh told bdnews24.com.

Rumi, who was expecting at the time of her arrest, was moved from Kashimpur Women’s Central Jail to the Gazipur District Jail on Nov 10 for ease of access to medical facilities, Ghosh said.

On Saturday Rumi was first taken from the prison to Gazipur’s Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

“She was released from the hospital and gave birth to her son around 1 am  on Sunday morning,” said the prison super. “Both mother and child are in healthy condition.”

Sarwar was Rumi’s second husband, said Ghosh. She also has a five-year-old son from her first marriage.

Rumi was also Sarwar’s second wife.

Sarwar had two children from his first marriage – an 11-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy. The girl is in a state run home. The boy stays with his mother in jail.

After the raid, RAB had identified the deceased as Abdur Rahman Ainal and claimed he was Neo-JMB’s chief financier.

At a press conference 13 days later, RAB said he was Sarwar Jahan, hailing from the northern district of Chapainawabganj.

RAB said Sarwar was the Emir of Neo-JMB and that he had planned the attacks on Holey Artisan Bakery, Kishoreganj's Sholakia, Hossaini Dalan, police checkposts and foreign nationals.

However, the counterterrorism unit says they believe Sarwar was third in the Neo-JMB hierarchy.
