The order delivered by Justice Md Ruhul Quddus on Wednesday also stayed a Tk 1 million fine imposed on the ruling party leader.

Dhaka’s Special Judges Court on Nov 2 sentenced Badi to three years in prison and fined him Tk 1 million after finding him guilty in a case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission.

Badi had filed an appeal at the High Court on Tuesday.

“He (Badi) has never disrespected the court. We told the court he’ll respect the law when he’s on bail. The court has granted our plea,” said Nasrin Siddika Lina, one of the lawyers representing the Cox’s Bazar MP.
