Two people have been lynched to death in Bandarban for their suspected involvement in the abduction of four persons.

Police said the lyching occured in a village in the hill tract district's Lama Upazila.

Lama police OC Md Iqbal Hossain said that locals beat the two persons to death around 10pm on Tuesday, hours after four workers were kidnapped.

He, however, could not confirm the identity of the victims, but said that the locals had rescued the four.

Locals said the men, who were abducted by a group of armed men, had been working at a local infrastructure project.

The locals then surrounded the forest and later succeeded in rescuing the four, they said.

During the rescue the locals captured two suspicious individuals who were lynched, said police.

The bodies are yet to be recovered as the incident took place at a remote village in Lama's Fashiyakhali Union, said OC Hossain.
