"It may rain on Friday too, but not like today (Thursday)” meteorologist Md Rasheduzzaman told bdnews24.com, adding “the rain is caused by the cyclone that has been weakened into a deep low.”

Most parts of the county experienced moderate to heavy rain on Thursday due to the deep depression that turned into a cyclone over the Bay of Bengal.

Meanwhile, cricket fans are eying on the sky as the second Test between Bangladesh and visiting England is scheduled to start in Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.

The meteorologists could not give any good news for the cricket fans but kept the hope of starting the mach alive by saying “the sun will appear at times and it may not rain incessantly.”

Cyclonic storm 'Kyant', developed over west-central Bay of Bengal, has weakened into a deep depression and moving west-southwestwards causing rains across Bangladesh.

Meteorologists said it would move further in the same direction and is likely to cross the coast of India's Andhra Pradesh by Friday or Saturday.

The latest weather bulletin says that the cyclonic storm has weakened into deep depression and moved southwestwards.

Meteorologist Bajlur Rashid also said the rain may continue on Friday. "It will decrease afterwards."

The highest 45 millimeter of rainfall was recorded in Dhaka on Thursday.

The Met Office forecast light to moderate rain or thunder storms accompanied by temporary gusty wind for Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places. Weather may remain mainly dry elsewhere across the country.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged throughout the country.
