Singer Runa Laila visits British Parliament at Tulip Siddiq's invitation

Singer Runa Laila has toured London’s House of Commons at the invitation of the Shadow Minister for Early Years Education Tulip Siddiq.

Runa, her daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons were greeted at the British Parliament by the MP of Hampstead and Kilburn Tulip.

Sheikh Rehana, Tulip’s mother and daughter of Bangabandhu, was also present.

Tulip was overjoyed the legendary singer had accepted her offer.

“Throughout the half-century of her career, Bangladesh’s beloved Runa Laila has earned the adoration of millions worldwide,” she told bdnews24.com.

Runa met and took photos with Bengali MP Rupa Huq, Bengali member of the House of Lords Baroness Uddin and British MPs Stephen Timms, Jim Fitzpatrick, Wes Streeting, Catherine West and Virendra Sharma during her visit, said Tulip.

Runa Laila has been on a long visit to London.

She celebrated her 50th year in the music industry on Sep 24 with a performance before a large audience of South Asian expats in London.
