Jhenaidah schoolgirl knife attack: Prime suspect Litu arrested

Police have arrested the prime suspect in the knife attack of a teenage girl in Jhenaidah.

Ninth-grader 'Puja' is being treated at a local hospital after she was attacked at her home on Monday evening.

'Litu', who had been harassing the girl with romantic advances, was arrested early morning Wednesday from an abandoned house at village near the town.

Puja is now being treated at a local hospital.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sheikh Ajbahar Ali said that the house was raided on a tip-off.

"Litu hurled crude bombs forcing the police to open fire. He has been taken to the Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital with gunshot wounds."

Police said they found some sharp weapons and crude bombs in his possession.
