Soldier killed in a knife attack in Comilla

An army soldier has been killed in an apparent knife attack by unidentified miscreants in Comilla, police say.

The body of Abdur Rahman, 28, which carrying multiple knife wounds, was found by the railway tracks in Nangalkot on Saturday, witnesses and police said. He was posted at the Bogra Cantonment, according to police.

He is the son of Mofizur Rahman, a resident of Faridpur village of Chandpur district. 

Laksham Railway Police OC Swapan Kanti Barua said that Rahman had gone to Chittagong from Bogra to take the Open University Higher Secondary Certificate examination.

After appearing at the examination at Patia Government College test centre, he was returning to Dhaka by a night train.

"At some point in the night he was attacked by miscreants at Nangalkot with a knife. At least 14 marks of knife attack were found in his body," the OC said.

The body was sent to the Comilla Medical College mortuary for post-mortem exanimation.
