Nahid will speak at a news conference in the ministry's conference room at 11am on Sunday, its Public Relations Officer Md Saifullah said.

"The education minister will speak about general issues on the JSC-JDC exams," he told bdnews24.com on Saturday.

The JSC (Junior School Certificate) and JDC (Junior Dakhil Certificate) examinations are scheduled to take place from Nov 1 to Nov 17 with the participation of more than 2.2 million candidates. The mass education ministry took all the preparations to hold the examinations but suddenly backtracked from the decision.

Another official of the ministry said, "The education minister has been very angry at such a bizarre decision by the primary and mass education ministry just 10 days prior to the exams."

He requested anonymity because he was not permitted to speak about the issue now.

"As there is no other option left, the education ministry will organise the JSC-JDC exams this year and this will be the last time. The education minister will make the announcement tomorrow," he added.

He also said there had been no need to wait for the Cabinet decision as the primary and mass education ministry is duty-bound to organise JSC, JDC exams following the National Education Policy.

Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman on Thursday made the declaration that they will not take any responsibility for the exams, citing Cabinet’s recent call to revise the proposal for upgrading primary education up to eighth grade instead of fifth.
