13 held for cheating in DU ‘Ka’ unit admission test

Dhaka University authorities have detained 13 aspirants for using unfair means during the entrance exam of ‘Ka’ unit of the university.

Acting Proctor of the university Prof M Amzad Ali said they were held from different exam centres on Friday morning.

“They were exchanging SMS through mobile phones and using other electronic devices to cheat during the exam,” he said.

Those detained have been kept at the proctor’s office. Legal action would be taken against them later, he added.

The exam for Ka unit was held from 10am to 11:30am at 87 centres inside and around DU campus on Friday.

A total 90,427 aspirants sat for the exam for admission to DU Faculty of Science consisting 1,785 seats.

Use of mobile phone and other communication devices are prohibited inside the exam halls.

Usage of any kind of unfair means during the exam would result into direct punishment through mobile courts patrolling on the spot, said the authorities.
