'Shobuj' and 'Shakil' were accused in a murder case filed in the Damurhhuda Police Station.

They were residents of C & B Parha area from where the body of schoolboy Mafuz Alam Shajib was recovered in August.

Damurhhuda police Sub-Inspector Mohitur Rahman said the 'encounter' took place around 3am on Thursday near Bypass Road in Dorshona Shantiparha.

Quoting RAB officials, he said the elite police unit retaliated when a group of 'miscreants' opened fire on their vehicle in the area.

"Later RAB found two bodies on the spot and recovered two rounds of bullets, a firearm and sharp weapons," he said.

The main accused in the murder case Rakibul Islam Rakib, member of Alokdia Union ward-1, was shot in a similar 'encounter' with the RAB on Sep 17.

Rakib was blamed for masterminding the abduction and murder of  Shajib, an eighth grader of V J School in Chuadanga.

On July 29, Shajib was abducted from a fair held inside the Damurhhuda Upazila Parishad premises.

The kidnappers demanded Tk 2 million as ransom from his family.

On Aug 31, RAB recovered Shajib’s body from a septic tank inside a factory owned by Rakib in C & B Parha area.

Shajib’s uncle Abdul Halim filed a case against six people including Rakib as the main accused at Damurhhuda Police Station.

Human chain protests have been held in Chuadanga demanding justice for Shajib.

The remaining three accused are currently in detention.
