Woman held for strangling 5-year-old son to death

A woman has been nabbed in Dhaka’s Savar on charges of murdering her son.

Police said 27-year-old Yanur Begum had confessed to strangling 5-year-old 'Rabiul' to death.

“Yanur said she lost her temper when her son refused to sleep. She strangled her and the boy had to be taken to hospital when he lost consciousness,” local police's Sub-Inspector Mohidul Islam said.

Yanur lived with her husband Shahjahan Fakir and son at Savar's Palashbarhi neighbourhood . Rabiul was Yanur's son from her former husband.

Police initially detained Shahjahan after the death was reported, but later, Yanur was arrested on the basis of his statement, said SI Mohidul.
