A police official was also injured in a shootout during the raid on the house in Afarkhola Patertek on Saturday, the home minister told reporters.

He came to the area where the raids were underway around 4pm.

"I am sure the person whose title or alias or whatever name is Akash. He has been leading the militants since the killing of Tamim Chowdhury. He has been killed here. He is one of the seven killed," Kamal said.

Earlier, DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanwar Hossain said the drive was being conducted following tip-off that Akash was in the house.
The home minister said, "We've never said that we were fully successful in suppressing militancy. One or two of them might have been here and there. We suspect they were trying to get united under Akash's leadership."
The other 'militants' killed in the raid could not be identified.
