The Awami League affiliate's General Secretary and former MP Apu Ukil, incumbent reserved seat MP Sabina Akter Tuhin and the organisation's Joint Secretary Kohale Quddus Mukti went to visit Khadiza Begum Nargis at Square Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The social media erupted in anger after some of the photos of the trio, taken at the cabin of Khadiza, were posted on their Facebook walls.

Mukti on Thursday said in a Facebook post the photos were posted on the social media to "share some information on Khadiza's condition with everyone' following rumours of her death'.

"But it sent wrong message to many, who were shocked to see the photos…I am very sorry! Please view the matter mercifully and don't misinterpret the photos," she said.

She also wished Khadiza a quick recovery and demanded punishment of the attacker, Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Badrul Alam.

MP Tuhin', however, was nowhere near being repentant.

"It seems from the hullabaloo over our photos that we have become more important an issue than Khadiza, it seems we have caused a great loss," she wrote in one of the series of posts.

She criticised the 'trend of commenting rather than standing beside the tortured people'.

"It seems that the government is responsible even for something that happens in the bedroom...no-one is ready to help with 10 paisa but criticises the government," she wrote.

The MP also slated the journalists. "Those who work much have to face much criticism too," she said.

On Wednesday, she claimed the photos were not selfies taken by her.

Khadiza, a student of Sylhet Government Women's College, was hacked by BCL's Shahjalal University of Science and Technology unit leader Badrul after taking a test at MC College reportedly for refusing to get into a relationship.
