The pilot scheme will be tried out from Oct 3 to 13 only at the Indian Visa Application Center at Gulshan, the High Commission said on Wednesday in a statement.

But they must have 'confirmed air tickets' with them when they apply. The ticket has to be shown at the time of entry.

Women will also be allowed to submit tourist visa applications on behalf of 'immediate family members,' who are accompanying them to India, said the statement.

The date of journey should be in the month of October but after seven days of submission of the visa application.

“This is a goodwill gesture extended to women and their family members to facilitate ease of securing Indian visas during the holiday season and to strengthen people-to-people contacts between India and Bangladesh,” the High Commission said in a statement.
