President Hamid, PM Hasina mourn writer Syed Haq

President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed sadness over the death of adroit writer Syed Shamsul Haq.

President Hamid said in a condolence message released on Tuesday that the death of the writer was an 'irreparable loss' for Bangladesh's literature.
 
The poet died of lung cancer at a hospital in Dhaka in the afternoon. He was 81.
 
His mastery in all spheres of literature will make Syed Haq immortal in Bangla literature and cultural arena, Hamid said.
 
He extended his sympathies to the grieving family.
 

Prime Minister Hasina in her message said Bengaliness, Bangladesh and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were a 'uniform entity' to Syed Haq.
Through his sharp writings, he has made us dream of a secular Bangladesh imbibed in the spirit of Liberation War until his last breath, she said.
His body of literary works, including countless poems, essays sand songs, will show the Bengali nation the path in the future, she added.
