Bangladesh's first internet newspaper has asked the daily to formally acknowledge and apologise for 'breaching the law' in a letter.

The letter, sent on Tuesday, threatened the daily with legal action if it does not comply with the demand, bdnews24.com's legal adviser Ilora Faruque Ahmed said.

A bdnews24.com spokesperson said the content of the news website was published in the Ittefaq's online version recently. "Using contents like this is a clear violation of the Copyright Act."
The spokesperson also said bdnews24.com has evidence of the 'illegal and unlawful' acts of the Ittefaq.
The authorities are expecting the Ittefaq to offer an apology on its news portal within 15 days from the date of the receipt of the letter, and admit that the photos and contents were used from bdnews24.com without taking its permission.
They also hoped the Ittefaq would send a letter to the bdnews24.com editor-in-chief, promising no repeat of such acts.
