The Korean technology powerhouse announced on Sep 2 a recall of at least 2.5 million of the flagship smartphone from 10 markets, including South Korea, due to a faulty battery causing the phones to catch fire while charging. They are offering full refunds or replacement devices fitted with safe batteries.

“We've cautioned against use of electronic devices with Lithium-ion batteries in aircraft as there are reports of accidents from such devices,” said Rezaul.

He said such devices must be switched off and not be charging on board.
