ATM Rafiqul Huda succumbed to his injuries Wednesday morning at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he was being treated for the last six days.

Burns Unit Resident Doctor Partha Shankar Pal said he had sustained 95 percent burns.

Huda, who hails from Faridpur, is the brother of former chief election commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda.

Relatives said the victim's son, who cleared the school-leaving SSC exams this year, set their home in Faridpur town to fire on Thursday after his father refused to buy him a motorcycle.

Huda and his wife were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, but he was transferred to Dhaka the same day as his condition deteriorated.

Faridpur police said no complain has been lodged over the incident.

Local police OC Md Nazim Uddim said the police will file a case if the family does not.
