Bullet inadvertently exits police constable's shotgun, leaves rickshaw-puller injured

A rickshaw-puller has been injured by shotgun fire at the Paltan intersection of the capital Dhaka.

The incident, which took place on Tuesday afternoon, was a result of negligence on the part of a police constable, DMP has said.

On duty officials at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost confirmed that bullet exiting from the shotgun of a constable on duty at Paltan left Md Hanif, 35, wounded in the chest, hands and back.

He was admitted to DMCH around 3pm by Paltan police.

DMP Motijheel Division Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain told bdnews24.com: "Initially we have found that bullets exited the shotgun of an on-duty constable by mistake, leaving the rickshaw-puller injured."

He said that the matter was being investigated and action would be taken against the police officer if he was found guilty of any negligence.
