Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foez Siddique issued the order on Sunday after hearing the State's plea.

Additional Attorney General Murad Reza represented the State during the hearing and lawyers AJ Mohammad Ali and Tanvir Ahmed Al Amin argued for Rahman.

Al Amin later told reporters, "The bail has been stayed until Oct 30. The matter will be heard in Court No. 1 (which comprises a bench led by the chief justice)."

A High Court bench had granted Rahman bail on Sep 7, clearing the way for his release from jail.

Last year, a US court convicted an expatriate BNP leader’s son, along with two other Americans, on charges of bribing a former FBI agent to get confidential information on Joy with the intent to 'scare', 'kidnap' and 'hurt' him.

Following that, in May last year, police in Dhaka initiated a case over a 'plot to abduct and kill' Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's only son.

On Apr 16 this year, magazine editor Shafik Rehman was arrested in the case. He was freed on bail earlier this month.

Later, police showed Mahmudur Rahman arrested in this case and took him into custody for questioning.

A former advisor to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, Rahman was arrested in April 2013 on charges of inciting communal tension and since then he has been in jail.

He has at least 70 cases on various charges pending against him.
