Bus-car crash kills two women at Dhaka's Ashulia

Two women have been killed and at least 15 others injured when a bus fell into a roadside ditch after colliding with a car at Dhaka's Ashulia.

The accident took place at Moragang on Dhaka-Tangail Highway on Tuesday evening, said Ashulia police OC Mohsinul Kadir.

Those who died and were injured were all passengers of the Abdullahpur-bound bus.

Kadir said the two women died on the spot after the bus driver lost control and the vehicle fell into the pit.

Locals and DEPZ Fire Service personnel rescued 15 others from the bus and sent them to local hospitals.

The OC, however, could not identify any of the victims.

Student killed in Chittagong crash

A student of the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology was also killed on Tuesday evening after he was hit by a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in front of the Shilpakala Academy on Damparha's MM Ali Road in Chittagong City.

Indentifying him as 'Jahin', 21, Chawkbazar police OC Nurul Huda said the accident, occurring around 7:45pm, also left two others injured.

He told bdnews24.com Jahin and another youth named 'Rifat', 22, were riding a rickshaw that was hit by the Prado on the Eid day.

Jahin was declared dead at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) when he was rushed there.

Rifat and the rickshaw-puller were admitted to the hospital, said CMCH police outpost's Nayek Md Jahangir.

Police have impounded the SUV and detained one Abdur Rahman Jamil, son of the vehicle's owner MA Mansur.

Officials said Jahin's family was preparing to start a case.
