Two to die for 2013 murder of Shariatpur teenager

A Speedy Trial Tribunal in Dhaka has sentenced two persons to death for the abduction and murder of a teenager in Shariatpur in 2013.

Judge Abdur Rahman Sarder of Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 also fined the convicts Tk 20,000 on Wednesday.
The convicts are Sohag Howlader and Atabur Rahman Bablu.
'Linkon', 18, son of Md Mozammel Khan from Shariatpur's Palong, was abducted and killed on June 25, 2013.
According to the case, Sohag called up his neighbour Linkon on that day and asked him to come near a jute field in Shimultoli area of Binodpur.
Linkon’s decomposed body was found in that field four days later.
His father Md Mozammel Khan filed a case with Palong Police Station accusing three.
Shariatpur police filed charges against Sohag and Bablu after investigation.
According to investigation, the convicts rendered Linkon unconscious with drug-laced drinks and stole away his motorcycle.
Later, the case was sent to Speedy Trial Tribunal where 11 persons testified on behalf of the plaintiff.
Judge Abdur Rahman Sarder remarked that crimes like abduction and murder were becoming more and more common these days.
The culprits must be brought to book to free the country of such heinous crimes and maintain law and order, he said.
