Policemen injured during Friday's raid out of danger, say Dhaka metro police

The two police officers, who were critically injured during Friday's raid on a terrorist hideout in Dhaka are out of danger, say the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Police raided a house at capital's Miprur on Friday night, after which, they say, an encounter led to the death of a militant, who they believe trained the Gulshan cafe killers.

The dead militant has been identified 'Murad', who the police claim to be a top Neo-JMB leader and 'second-in-command' to Jul 1 attack 'plotter' Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury.

Tamim and two other suspected militants were gunned down last Saturday, when police raided a house in Narayanganj.

Murad, called 'Major Murad' by the members of his outfit, had also used aliases 'Jahangir' and 'Omar', said police.

After being tipped-off, police raided a house at Rupnagar neighbourhood in Mirpur.

Rupnagar police's OC Syed Shaheed Alam and Inspector Shaheen Fakir were critically wounded during the raid.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police's spokesperson Masudur Rahman said on Saturday that they were out of danger following successful surgeries.

Doctors said that Shaheed has been hit on his waist by sharp weapons while Shaheen on his head, left shoulder and leg.

Deputy Police Commissioner Rahman told bdnews24.com that the surgeries on the officers was performed early on Saturday

Three other policemen, treated at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital from injuries during the raid, were also out of danger, he added.
