Dhaka cafe attack 'mastermind' Tamim led all recent terror attacks, police chief says

Alleged Gulshan cafe carnage mastermind Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury, killed in Narayanganj raid, had led all the recent terror attacks in Bangladesh, police chief AKM Shahidul Hoque says.

Tamim, an expatriate in Canada, made the headlines after police said he was the brains behind the Gulshan attack in which 22 persons, including 17 foreigners, were killed on July 1.

On Tuesday, Inspector General of Police Hoque said in a programme, "Mastermind Tamim Chowdhury not only did lead the Gulshan and Sholakia attacks, the attacks in northern Bangladesh - Dhaka, Tangail, Pabna, Kushtia and the other places - were all carried out under his leadership."
He thanked the police personnel involved with the raid in Narayanganj where Tamim and two other suspected militants were killed on Saturday.
"They have conducted the raid very successfully," Hoque said.
The programme at Razarbagh Police Lines was organised to extended assistance to police officers injured in the Gulshan and Sholakia terror strikes and the families of the those killed in the attacks.
The families of the four police officers killed in the attacks received Tk 10.6 million from the DMP and Tk 1.6 million from Police Service Association.
