The six including main accused Harunur Rashid Jewel were caught during raids by Detective Branch (DB) in different areas of capital Dhaka on Saturday night, DMP’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Md Yusuf Ali said on Sunday.

The five others are Mojahidul Islam, Safayet Ullah, Rahat Hossain Kabya, Iqbal Ahmed and Shah Poran Hossain Raju.

Later in the day, DB Inspector Fazlul Karim presented them before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Emdadul Haque and sought 10 days to question them.

But the magistrate granted only three days for each of the accused, a court official said.

Jewel and Mojahidul were also remanded for three more days in another case started under the Arms Act.

Police said they had found two guns and four rounds of bullets on the two during the arrests.

On Aug 13, 2015, four Awami League activists were shot while they were talking among themselves near Adarshanagar water pump at Badda.

All of them died later in hospitals.

The deceased were Awami League Dhaka ward-6 unit Joint Secretary Shamsu Molla, Firoze Ahmed Manik, Awami Swechhasebak League (Dhaka North) leader Mahbubur Rahman Gama and Juba League leader Abdus Salam.

“At first, 10 to 12 unidentified people were accused in the case filed by Gama’s father Motiur Rahman,” Badda police OC MA Jalil said earlier.

Jewel was made the prime accused later.
