President Hamid leaves to for London for eye treatment, medical check-up

President Md Abdul Hamid has left Dhaka for the United Kingdom on a seven-day visit for eye treatment and medical check-up.

A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with him and his entourage at 10:30am on Sunday.
 
Several Cabinet members and military and civilian officials saw him off at the airport.
 
Abdul Hamid is scheduled to undergo treatment at the Moorfields Eye Hospital and Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London, said Press Secretary to the President Md Joynal Abedin.
 
He said the president is expected to return on Sep 4.
 
Hamid, 73, has been suffering from glaucoma for a long time. He used to visit Singapore regularly for his eye treatment, while he was the Speaker of Parliament.
