Director General Md Amzad Hossin said tickets for Sep 7 will be available at all major railway stations throughout Bangladesh including those in Dhaka and Chittagong from 8am.

He told bdnews24.com on Sunday that they were all done with the preparations for the sale. “Additional ticket counters will also be set up at Kamalapur station. The sale will continue from 8am until the tickets exhaust.”

Also, tickets for Sep 8, 9, 10 and 11 will be sold on Aug 30, 31, Sep 1 and 2, respectively. The sale will begin from 8am every day.

As usual, one person can buy a maximum of four non-refundable tickets.

The Eid-ul-Azha may fall on Sep 12 or 13, depending on moon sighting.

After the Eid, people will also be able to buy the advance return tickets at all major railway stations.

Tickets for Sep 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 will be available on Sep 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, respectively.

The director general said along with Government Railway Police (GRP), RAB, BGB and Armed Police Battalion will also be deployed at the major stations to ensure hassle-free ticket sale.

Last week, Railways Minister Mazibul Haque at a press briefing said the tickets will be sold 10 days before the Eid this time to make sure the travellers do not suffer.

He had said additional coaches and engines will be added to the regular trains while special trains will operate before and after the Eid.

Railways officials said six special trains will run for three days before the Eid and seven days after the holidays to cope with the rush.

On the Eid day, 14 trains, including four Sholakia-bound special ones, will run to ensure trouble-free journey of the home-goers.

All inter-city trains, except Upakul Express, Bijoy Express and Sundarban Express, will be operating on their weekly day-offs from Sep 7 until the day before the Eid.

Leaves of important railway officers have been cancelled. They will work at a control room set up at the Rail Bhaban in the capital.
