Four suspected members of Ansarullah Bangla Team arrested in Faridpur

Police have arrested four suspected members of Ansarullah Bangla Team in raids on different places in Faridpur.

Arms, ammunition, bombs and bomb-making materials were also seized in the overnight drive that started on Friday afternoon, Faridpur Superintendent of Police Md Jamil Hasan said.

The SP read out a written statement in a news conference on Saturday.

He said Nahid Molla alias ‘Nadim’, 20, an ‘active ABT operative’, was arrested from Bhanga on Friday afternoon following a tip-off. 

Following leads given by Nahid, police arrested Farid Mridha, 32, Shahidul Islam, 35, and Mohsin Molla, 35.

Police identified Farid as ABT’s Faridpur unit chief and the two others as his associates.

Police found and seized a 9mm pistol, a one-shooter gun, five rounds of bullets, and 12 hand bombs from them.

Another 9mm pistol, five rounds of bullets, jihadi books and 10 bombs were recovered from a book store and another house later, police said.

The SP said police were starting cases under the arms and explosives act.
