Metropolitan Magistrate Sajjadur Rahman refused him bail on Wednesday.

After a month of the terror attack on the upscale Dhaka cafe, Hasanat was shown arrested on Aug 2 in the case started over the incident.

On the night of Jul 1, gunmen attacked the Holey Artisan Bakery and O’ Kitchen and killed 22 people, including 17 foreigners and two police officers.

Hasanat and Tahmid Hasib Khan, a Bangladeshi expatriate student from Canada, were among the 13 hostages rescued from the cafe on the morning of Jul 2 before army commandos stormed the eatery and killed the militants.

Police had questioned and released all rescued hostages, barring the two.

They were initially shown arrested under Section-54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Police have questioned Hasanat in two rounds of remand before producing him in court on Monday.

The court then sent him to jail.

Before Wednesday’s hearing, Hasanat faced eight-day remand in two rounds for questioning.
