Muhuri River and Kohua River in the two Upazilas submerged the villages and ruined paddy fields, vegetables farms, hundreds of ponds and fish enclosures there.

The Water Development Board (WDB) Executive Engineer of Feni, Md Kohinoor Alam said Muhuri River submerged around four villages when its embankment collapsed near the ‘Shaldhor’ spot in  Porshuram Upazila.

Meanwhile, breaches developed on embankments in Joypur, Doulatpur and Bijoypur areas, due to heavy rain and landslide and floodwaters coming down from India in last two days.

Phulgazi Union Parishad Chairman Abul Hossain said overflowing water submerged the streets and markets in Phulgazi bazar, Doulatpur, Joypur, Ghoniyamorha, Kismot Ghoniyamorha and Bijoypur in his union.

“Water submerged the Feni- Phulgazi Road, the newly-sown ‘aman’ paddy was washed away,” he said.

Porshuram's Chithlia UP Member Iqbal Hossain Molla told bdnews24.com that streets in Shaldhor, Rajeshpur and Paglipur villages were inundated leaving the inhabitants homeless.

Phulgazi administration chief (UNO) Kisinger Chakma said that he had visited the affected areas.

Feni WDB chief Kohinoor said:“We are working to prevent any further damage. The cracks will be repaired once water level goes down.”

On Jul 17, the embankment on Muhuri River collapsed in Doulatpur inundating Doulatpur, Ghaniyamorha and Borakpur villages of Phulgazi Upazila.
