A leader of Myanmar’s ‘separatist militant group’ Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) and another person were also detained with the Saudi Arab on Saturday afternoon, BGB Teknaf Battalion-2 commander Lt Col Abujar Al Jahid said.

The BGB official identified the RSO leader as Salaul Islam, 50, and the other person as Teknaf Upazila Council Chairman Zafar Alam’s relative Syed Karim.

Jahid could not name the Saudi citizen.

He alleged local Awami League MP Abdur Rahman Badi, Upazila Chairman Alam, Vice-Chairman Rafiq Uddin and Baharchharha Union Parishad Chairman Aziz Uddin obstructed BGB officials from doing their duty and tried to snatch away those detained.

He said the trio were being questioned at BGB’s Teknaf Battalion office.
