PM alerts people about use of technology by terrorists

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged everyone to be alert about the use of modern technology by militants and terrorists.

She was speaking at the inauguration of a conference on administrative transparency and accountability at the Bangabandhu Novotheatre in Dhaka on Thursday.

"While technology is being used for good work, it is also being used by militants and terrorists. So, we must be very alert," said the prime minister.

"There is no room for militancy and terrorism in Bengal. We must go about with this principle." 
The conference is aimed at projecting various innovations in the country and abroad. 

Ministers of the Maldives and Bhutan, and representatives Bangladesh's development partners are taking part.

"There is no alternative to transparency and accountability in public administration. I am confident that together we can build a modern, service-oriented, and effective administration suitable for the 21st Century," said Sheikh Hasina.

She said Bangladesh was gifted with huge human resources, if shaped with training and education, could help any country progress.

To government servants, she said, "We must acquire much more skill in order to compete with developed countries in providing prompt, high quality, and accessible services."

She said government employees must learn to think afresh in every sector and sphere. "We must evolve new techniques and methods to render services."

"Our job is to serve the people. People will not come to us, we must serve them by reaching out to them. This should be our motto. This is our principle."

She recalled the various steps taken by the government of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to facilitate innovation.


"Every step taken by the Father of the Nation had laid the foundation of today's digital Bangladesh. His steps have shown us the way to the future," she said.
