Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Dhaka metro police chief Asaduzzaman Mia said, “We have identified some of those, but I will not say anything else until it is fully verified.”
During a routine search operation, police came under attack while trying to enter a building at Dhaka's Kalyanpur area in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Reinforcements were brought in.
After a night long stand-off, SWAT team stormed the apartment on the fifth floor of the building, when nine suspected militants were killed.
Police later found arms and explosives in the apartment.
Pictures (Parental guidance is advised for juveniles to see the photo of bloodied bodies) of the suspected militants, who were killed, were released by police on Tuesday night.
DMP Commissioner Mia said on Wednesday that they were getting responses to the post.
“We are getting a lot of information. But we can disclose those without confirming, though we are almost sure about the identities of one or two,” he told reporters.
The nine bodies have been kept at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital mortuary, where autopsies will be performed on Wednesday.
Mia said that samples will be collected from the bodies for DNA test, just like it was done in the case of the Gulshan cafe killers.
