Scholastica at Gulshan North Avenue and Araura International School at Gulshan-2 have their time extended to Dec 31 for relocation.

Hotel Holiday Planet and Hotel Amari at Gulshan-2 and Coffee World at Banani have got three months' time to move out.

The bench of Justice Quamrul Islam Sidduque and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil issued the stay order on hearing separate writ petitions on Wednesday.

The court also ordered the schools to ensure security while operating during the stay.

It said the respondents in the order will be able to take steps if the schools do not relocate within Dec 31.

After the deadly terror attack at Holey Artisan Bakery and O' Kitchen in Dhaka's diplomatic district Gulshan, the capital's development authority RAJUK had listed 525 illegal establishments in the area and decided to evict them.

The drive was launched on Monday.

The five entities moved the High Court last week.

Deputy Attorney General Mokhlesur Rahman, who stood for the State in the hearing, said the court also issued a rule asking the authorities why the eviction drive will not be declared illegal as it was launched without giving any notice.

The local government secretary, housing and public works secretary, RAJUK chairman and Dhaka North City Corporation mayor have been asked to come up with explanation within four weeks.
