The state minister for post and telecommunications told bdnews24.com she had discussions on the matter with Indian telecom minister Manoj Sinha at his office in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The two countries will sign a Memorandum of Understanding to that end ‘soon’, Tarana said.

“We have also discussed steps to bring other SAARC countries under this MoU.”

Banned militant outfits allegedly use the internet to communicate with youths and inspire them to embrace violent extremism for recruitment.

The internet has emerged as the most effective platform to dish out terrorist propaganda. The Gulshan cafe attackers had reportedly supplied to others or uploaded themselves photos of the carnage when it was underway.

Tarana said she had discussed export of more internet bandwidth from Bangladesh to India’s northeastern states, called the Seven Sisters.

Bangladesh currently exports 10GBPS bandwidth to Tripura.
