The minister told a discussion on Sunday that being an MP, he knew how tens of millions were being ‘stolen from programmes like Test Relief (TR) and Food for Work.

After seeing media reports on his comments, his ministry issued a statement later in the night saying the minister regretted if someone ‘misunderstood’ him or if his comments gave rise to misgivings.

The statement quoted Inu as saying that he meant ‘some cases of corruption’, but did not blame everyone while speaking about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s effort against graft.

“If someone got hurt inadvertently, I am really sorry for that,” he said.
