Child worker reportedly murdered by air through rectum at Narayanganj factory

A child worker has reportedly been killed by pumping air into his rectum using a compressor hose at a Narayanganj factory.

Police said that the incident took place at the Jabeda Textile and Spinning Factory in the district’s Rupganj Upazila on Sunday.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md Zakaria said 10-year-old Sagar Barman was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead around 4pm.

He told bdnews24.com that other workers of the factory inserted a high-pressure nozzle through his backside and filled his body with air.

Dr Md Firoz at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the boy died, said he was brought with an abnormally swelled belly.

“He might have died from air filled through his rectum,” he said.

ASP Matiar Rahman said several persons were detained for questioning in the evening.

Mozammel Haque Bhuyian, the managing director of the factory, did not receive phone calls.

In August last year, a 12-year-old boy was killed similarly at a motor workshop in Khulna by his employer.

Two people have been sentenced to death for the grisly murder.
