Bangladesh has global support to fight terrorism: PM Hasina

Bangladesh is not alone in the fight against terrorism, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said.

Speaking at a meeting of her Awami League party on Saturday, she said many had feared the recent terror attacks would destroy Bangladesh’s image.

“But I can at least say that heads of governments and states of almost all the countries across the globe, even Queen Elizabeth and the Duke sent me messages and letters,” she said.

“They have condemned the attacks and praised us for suppressing the terrorists within a short period,” Hasina said. 

The prime minister said Bangladesh set an example in tackling terror attacks.

She said the heads of governments and states also pledged support in the fight against terrorism.

“I want the people to know through you (Awami League leaders) that we are not alone, the entire world is with us in the battle against terrorism,” she said.

She also alerted the Awami League leaders that they have a ‘huge responsibility’ in tis regard.
