He was detained from the gate of Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur soon after his release on Thursday, Joydebpur Police Station OC Khandker Rezaul Hasan told bdnews24.com on Friday.

He was later handed over to the Detective Branch.

The OC did not disclose the charges against Sadman.

In December last year, two persons were sentenced to death and one to life in prison for the February 2013 murder of blogger and Ganajagaran Mancha activist Rajib.

The court handed down varying prison terms for five others, including militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team chief Mufti Jasim Uddin Rahmani.

Rahmani had been named the ‘instigator’ of the crime in the case.

All other the convicts are former North South University students.

Those sentenced to death are Redwanul Azad Rana and Faisal Bin Nayeem Deep.

All the convicts except Rana were in jail when the verdict was pronounced.

This was the first verdict in cases related to the recent killings of bloggers.

Sadman was sentenced to three years in jail.

The private university has made headlines recently after two of its students were shot dead by security forces in the Gulshan and Sholakia terror attacks.

The pro-VC of the university has also been arrested for sheltering the Gulshan attackers.
