Acting Proctor Amzad Ali said the decision about the sociology department professor was reached in a Syndicate meeting on Thursday night.

Syndicate member Maksud Kamal said the female harassment prevention cell has been tasked with investigating the allegations brought by two students of the department.

Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique had said the students levelled the charges on June 27.

Shahadat, however, has dismissed the allegations.

“I am totally innocent. The allegations aim at undermining my reputation. Many envy me because of my professional achievements. So, they have made the two former students accuse me,” he told bdnews24.com.

Those who made the allegations were so happy at the university decision that they called a teacher and cried tears of joy.
