“I believe we will be able to catch them and give them the penalty they deserve,” she said in reply to a query in Parliament on Wednesday on steps taken to catch those behind the Gulshan and Sholakia attacks.

“As we have the support of international groups, and since we all are united against terrorism and militancy, it won’t be difficult to track them (terrorists),” she said.

“…It’s only a matter of time now,” she added.

The prime minister said Bangladesh was making ‘fast progress’ amidst global recession and credited her government for the progress.

She said all the killings, including those ‘in the name of protests’ during a blockade called by BNP last year and during the last parliamentary election, had tarnished raised Bangladesh.

“But we have established good governance, proper management. That’s why we could brighten Bangladesh’s image in this short period. We took steps to gain confidence, trust of the foreign investors,” she said.

Referring to the recent terror attacks, Hasina said, “Such incidents have occurred across the world. Those carrying out attacks in Bangladesh do not actually want the country to progress.”

She termed the attackers ‘inhumane and cowards’. She said they did not believe in Bangladesh’s independence.

The prime minister said ‘some’ of the Gulshan cafe attackers were killed while ‘some others were identified and arrested’.

She urged everyone to help the security forces by providing information on the youths listed as missing and possibly joined militants.

“Besides (finding these youths), we will have to find those who are backing and planning the attacks and training the militants, no matter from what country they are from,” she added.
