He said this on Tuesday while replying to reporters’ questions on an SMS sent by police to members of the Cabinet.

“An unfortunate incident (the Gulshan terror attack) happened on Jul 1. There’s no way to take it lightly. It has made it clear that we need to be careful,” he said.

Huq said whenever the law enforcers pass on intelligence inputs regarding the security of those in government whenever they get it.

“The Dhaka metro police chief told us that they had ‘information’ and asked us to be careful,” said the minister. He, however, did not spell out the details.

Asked whether security measures for ministers had been boosted, he said, “I don’t think so. We think the present arrangements are adequate.”

Emphasising precaution, the minister said, “You have seen what happened in France and the US. There’s very little room for us to be complacent.”
