"Give them quality time, keep a close watch on what they do, who they mix around with," she said , while addressing a programme on the 30th anniversary of the Special Security Force (SSF) at her office.

The Prime Minister said that terrorism couldn’t just be fought by law-enforcing agencies.

"We need popular support, for which we need to create awareness about the adverse fallout of terrorism," Hasina said.

"We will arrest terrorists, we will act against them but they need to be isolated and their ideology needs to be defeated. People must reject them."

Blaming some radical groups for spreading 'the message of religious bigotry', Hasina said those young people who have been misled by such propaganda should be brought back to normal life.

She expressed concerns at how students with liberal English-medium education had got involved with terrorist groups.

"They are expected to develop a liberal outlook. We must find out how some of them have strayed into terrorist groups," she said, referring to the attackers of Gulshan Cafe and Sholakia Eid grounds.

Seventeen more students have been reported missing from homes after authorities asked parents to report missing children.

"They might have also joined terrorist groups. We have to bring them back to normal life before they cause any damage," Hasina said.

The prime minister said her government was keen to get 'at the root of the problem'.

"It is most important to find out who are funding such groups, arming such groups," she said.
