Schools and colleges were closed from Apr 21 to Apr 27 due to the scorching heat throughout the country
He was speaking to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during a courtesy call on Tuesday afternoon.
“The high commissioner said Pakistan can take lessons on women’s empowerment and population control from Bangladesh,” Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said after the meeting.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told the high commissioner her government’s goal was to ensure a poverty-free Bangladesh and discussed initiatives taken to develop the education and health sectors.
She asked the high commissioner to convey her greetings to her Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif.
Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Gowher Rizvi and Principal Secretary Abul Kalam Azad were present at the meeting.
