The raids, in which over 400 personnel from police, RAB and BGB are taking part, kicked off after midnight on Sunday.

However, no militant hideout or training camp has yet been found, according to Bogra-based RAB- 12 chief Lt Col Mahbub Alam.

“The raid is being conducted upon receipt of information about training camps at Sariakandi and Dhunat Upazilas,” he told bdnews24.com.

The security forces are also conducting awareness campaigns.

The bdnews24.com correspondent found locals gathered before a school at Dhuna, where RAB and police personnel were calling upon people to provide information.

RAB officials reassured people that their identities would be concealed if they provided information on militants and that they would also be rewarded by the authorities.

“We have found a lot of information and are acting according to it,” said Col Mahbub.
