Kamaruzzaman’s son Hasan Iqbal has sent a rejoinder to a bdnews24.com report.

Senior journalist Motiur Rahman has also admitted to selling the plot to the Jamaat leader.

Jamaat leaders Motiur Rahman Nizami, Ali Ahasan Mohammad Mujahid and Delwar Hossain Sayedee, all convicted for 1971 war crimes, had been allotted plots by capital’s development authority RAJUK.

Housing and Public Works Minister Mosharraf Hossain on Thursday told bdnews24.com, “We have had information about four war criminals who have obtained these plots. We have ordered their cancellation.”

Hasan in his response on Friday said his father bought the National Housing Authority plot in Mirpur in 1998.

The Manab Zamin editor said he had sold the plot as he ‘badly needed money’ and that there was a stipulation that such plots could be sold only to journalists.

“Kamaruzzaman was the editor of dailies Sangram and Sonar Bangla at the time. He was also a member of the National Press Club.”

Motiur Rahman also claimed he did not know about the Jamaat leader’s involvement in war crimes back then.
