He says holding public meetings alone will not serve the purpose.
Imran was addressing a public rally against terrorism in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh on Friday.
He said terror had pushed Bangladesh to the “mouth of the pit”.
“The terrorists have declared war against the state. We must declare war against the terrorists, we have to be prepared to hit the streets in defiance against terrorism.”
“We must keep all differences aside and stand up unitedly to fight the menace of terror,” he said.
Imran urged people to come proactively forward.
“We cannot afford to be non accountable. Someone or the other has to take the responsibility.”
Speaking at the event, human rights activist Sultana Kamal said, “This is not a day to sit down”, as she urged the people to build up a united fight against terror.
Academician Professor Ajay Roy said the Gulshan attack had forced the country to think anew about terror.
“In the past even I used to criticise the kind of education provided by madrasas. Now I am in a fix.
“It appears that students and teachers have terror links in so-called secular universities,” he said, taking a dig at universities like North South University whose students have been found to be involved in some of the recent attacks.
