PM Hasina attends post-budget Iftar hosted by Finance Minister Muhith 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has joined a post-budget Iftar party hosted by Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.

The Iftar gathering, on Thursday, was intended to mark the passing of the national budget for 2016-17 fiscal year by Parliament earlier in the day. 
 
The prime minister, accompanied by the finance minister, went round meeting the guests, exchanging pleasantries, and wishing them well after her arrival at 6:15pm.
 

Before the Iftar, a special prayer was held seeking lasting peace, progress and prosperity for the nation.
Prayers were also offered for the eternal peace of departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the members of his family killed in the Aug 15, 1975 carnage, and Liberation War martyrs.
They also prayed for the prime minister’s good health and long life. 
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, Dhaka University Professor Emeritus Dr Rafiqul Islam and Professor Emeritus Dr Anisuzzaman, Deputy Leader of Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Leader of the Opposition Raushon Ershad, Prime Minister's Special Envoy and Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, were present.  
Ministers, advisers to the prime minister, the chief whip, mayors of city corporations, whips, MPs, editors, journalists, and eminent persons and high civil and military officials also attended the Iftar.
