Prime minister’s Principal Secretary Abul Kalam Azad gave the instruction in a video conference with divisional commissioners at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

He told the divisional commissioners, “Keep the deputy commissioners on alert during the long nine-day Eid vacation. Let the DCs be vigilant to prevent any instability.”

Last week, the government announced Jul 4 as a public holiday paving the way for a nine-day Eid vacation beginning on Jul 1.

Azad asked the government officers at grass roots to inform divisional and deputy commissioners of any law and order problem during the vacation.

He told government officers, “The longer the vacation the higher your responsibility.”

Prime Minister’s Office Secretary Suraiya Begum asked officials concerned to ensure security of the bank vaults during the holidays.
