This year, the vacation starts on Jul 1 with weekends, and lasts till Jul 9.

Health Minister Mohammed Nasim on Tuesday chaired a meeting at his office that also asked hospitals to prepare special rota to ensure services during the holidays.

The meeting decided to keep emergency services open round the clock, while outdoor services would remain closed only on Eid day and the Shab-e-Quadr holiday, apart from Fridays between Jul 1 and Jul 9.

The health ministry will run a control room of its own to monitor the services, while another will be set up by the Directorate General for Health Services.

Their phone numbers would be announced on Thursday, the ministry said in a statement.

Hospitals have also been asked to be ready with supplies, doctors, nurses and ambulances to respond to any emergencies during the holidays.
